HISTORY
FRID SHCHEPIN-ROSTOVSKY FOUNDATION was founded and continues to pay tribute to health and human rights, education, and art enlightenment that took place in begging of 19th century in Russia.
Dimitry Shchepin-Rostovsky (one of the Decembrists) a noble military officer coming back from Napoleonic War, and being enlightened by French and United States continuation, wanted to change Russian monarchy to reflect and embrace European and American freedom.
The Decembrist free thinking vision and western enlightenment where a core element of the 1825 Decembrist Revolt, aimed to establish a constitutional monarchy or republic in Russia, ending autocratic rule and promoting equality before the law, abolishment of serfdom, promoting education and health benefits to all citizens, was a response to Russia's perceived backwardness compared to Western nations.
This foundation was created to support higher education, advance healthcare initiatives, promote arts, and bring community through cultural events together.
